Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Friday, we held a very successful movie night and working bee! What a fantastic night! We had around sixty students and some preschoolers at the movie night and over thirty parents at the working bee. The children had a fun time and enjoyed watching the movie and devouring the popcorn and poppers, while the parents achieved a lot outside. Weeds were pulled, trees were trimmed, plants were planted and tan bark was installed in the front garden. Many hands made light work! Thank you to everyone involved and for coming along and bringing your tools, Richard Bunn for his coordination ably assisted by Greg Paciorek, Amy Doszpot for organising the catering and the theatre and Shaye Cooper and Hayley Millsom for their assistance. A fabulous way to end the term and the school grounds are well prepared for the winter months.
We had several students who participated in the Rotary Public Speaking at Bungendore last night. It was a pleasure to be able to attend and listen to all the amazing speeches. Each student wrote their own speech then participated in a Stage level competition at school with only three students selected from each level. We thank the Bungendore Rotary Club for their organisation and our wonderful parents for providing the transport to Bungendore and for supporting the children. Congratulations to Betty who won the Year 5 and 6 division and the following students who participated Year 3 and 4 - Kitty, Indi and Pheobe and Year 5 and 6 - Teddy, Fallon and Betty.
It has been very inspiring to have each class portray the story of the passion in very prayerful liturgies. We are extremely grateful to each class teacher for their organisation, assisted by Ms Cooper. On Thursday we have our final liturgy and our Easter Hat Parade after Recess.
This morning, we received the exciting news that were successful in obtaining a Veoila Mulwaree Trust Grant of $45,000 for the new Infants Playground. With the Bendigo Bank grant of $45,000 and money raised we have sufficient funds to commence the project next term with an estimated cost of over $130,000. We are extremely grateful to Kristi Morrison and Rachel Farley for their work on the grant application and the playground project.
On Friday May 1, we are hosting the Northern Regions Cross Country at the Braidwood Showground. We need parent helpers on the day! If you can assist as an official, please contact Katie Tooth or in the canteen, please contact Ruby Green or Fiona Noye. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved and fundraise for playground improvements for St Bede’s.
We wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday break. Students return on Tuesday April 29 and we will be phasing our winter uniform in for the first two weeks. If you happen to be nearby the school, please do a walk through and help us to keep our school safe! St Bede’s will be participating in the ANZAC March on Friday April 25. All children from Kinder to Year 6 are welcome to attend but must be in their full winter uniform and assemble outside St Bede’s Church by 10:30am. We thank Mrs Trish Young who is making our Anzac wreath for us.
As Easter draws near, a season filled with profound joy and hope, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ—the foundation of our faith. This Easter, let us take time to reflect on the gift of new life and the promise of renewal. May we live out the message of Easter not only through our actions but also in the kindness and love we share with others. May this season bring peace, love, and boundless joy to all, and may we continue to deepen our faith and dedication to serving others.
Wishing you a blessed and holy Easter!

Supporting Respectful Behaviour and Safety
Over recent weeks, we have noticed an increase in instances of inappropriate behaviour amongst our male students. In response, we have spoken with the boys to reinforce the importance of keeping their bodies private and treating themselves and others with respect. We emphasised that every child has the right to feel safe at all times and that behaviours which make others feel uncomfortable are not acceptable.
With the holiday break approaching, it’s a timely reminder for families to continue these conversations at home. We encourage parents and carers to talk with their children about respectful behaviour—in both social and online settings—and to supervise their use of digital platforms to ensure they are accessing age-appropriate content.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to nurture a safe and respectful environment for every student at St Bede’s.
Unexplained Absences
Yesterday, Compass notifications were sent regarding unexplained absences. If you received a notification, please ensure it is actioned before the end of term. Schools are legally required to receive notification from parents/carers for any absence from school. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries regarding absences.
Have you downloaded the Qkr! App yet? As of next term, lunch orders will need to be purchased through Qkr! Information on how to set up Qkr! can be accessed here.
I hope you enjoy the change of pace that holidays bring!
Kind regards,
Amy Doszpot
Assistant Principal
Dear St Bede’s families,
It has been a busy first term at St Bede’s! We are grateful to our families and parish for supporting the faith development of our students and their active participation in the religious life of the school.
Lenten Journey & Holy Week
As we enter the fifth week of Lent, St Bede’s has been participating in Holy Week Liturgies each morning to follow the journey of Jesus in his final week. We thank the teachers and students for their wonderful presentations, and our families for attending the liturgies. We invite families to join the St Bede’s Parish for Easter vigils in the school holidays (please see bulletin for Mass times).
Join us as we Unite Against Poverty this Lent!

Sacramental Program
A friendly reminder that this year we will offer Sacramental Programs for Reconciliation and Eucharist through the St Bede’s Parish. These programs are aimed at Year 3 students (students must be baptised Catholic to be eligible to participate). Older students who have not previously had the opportunity to participate in these sacraments are welcome to join. If your child would like to participate and you have not yet returned the permission, please contact me ASAP.
ANZAC Day – SAVE THE DATE!
ANZAC Day is commemorated on Friday 25th April, which falls in the school holidays. We invite our students to join us for the ANZAC Day March. We meet at 10:30am outside St Bede’s Church. Students are asked to wear full winter school uniform. We will participate in a prayer liturgy for ANZAC Day on Thursday 1 May at 9am (Term 2, Week 1). This will be held in the school hall and led by Year 3. Families are welcome to attend.
We wish all our families a safe and relaxing school holiday break. May you be inspired by Jesus’ sacrifice during this holy time.
Yours in faith,
Shaye Cooper

Greetings from the School Counsellor
Important information about how to access School Counselling.
Please feel free to touch base with any questions or concerns relating to the counselling service.
How to make an appointment.
If your child/ren were seen by the school counsellor in previous years and you would like them to receive support in 2025, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. The link can be found below. New referrals and requests can be made via the same link.
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email. Where parents are separated, we require the written consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received, I will contact parents on a Wednesday to further discuss the referral and determine whether school counselling can meet your child’s needs or if an external referral may be more appropriate.
Referrals can be submitted here
https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
I am at St. Bede’s on Wednesdays each week of term.
Faith Costigan – Student and Family Counsellor.
School fees are now overdue for payment.
Reminder emails were sent out in week 8, if you received one of these emails, we would appreciate a prompt response and payment.
Any families who are struggling to pay their fees are asked to contact the office to put arrangements in place.
Please note that the preferred method of payment for fees is through BPAY as it is cost effective. The BPAY reference details are in the top right and bottom left on the invoice.
- Please be mindful of what containers you send to school with your child. Please do not send ring pull cans (like the lids on small tuna cans etc..) or glass containers as these present a cutting hazard to children. Please open the can at home and place in a plastic container.
- We would ask that soft drinks are not sent to school with your children as we do try to encourage a healthy alternative like water.
- If your child is unwell, please place their absence through the Compass Parent Portal App. There is no need to then notify the office once you have placed it into the Compass app.
- Please keep an eye on ourFaceBook page for the latest happenings around the school. StBede'sFaceBook page
Healthy Lunchbox Nutrition Snippets
- Parents are reminded to check that their child's name is on all their clothing - it is impossible to return clothes with no name.
- The school has a 2nd hand uniform pool. If you would like any uniform items please call into the office to complete an order form or alternatively email the office with your order. You will be contacted once the order has been filled. Please note that as the uniform pool relies on donations from parents, we do not have a full range of items or sizes. Any families who have uniforms that they no longer need, please consider donating these back to the school, these can be left at the office. Thank you
- Len Mutton and Co are the schools official uniform supplier. They are located in the main street or phone 0248422446 or email lenmutton@bigpond.com
