Dear Parents and Carers,
Well in a blink of an eye, the Infants are all in their new classrooms and Years 5 and 6 are in the Kinder and Year 2 spaces whilst their classrooms are being refurbished. The children are loving their new spaces and if you come into school, you can see they are very settled. Thank you to our teachers and Katie' Moran who assisted with the move and Katie's husband for doing the heavy lifting of the furniture.
Yesterday we celebrated World Teachers Day. Our Support Staff put on an amazing morning tea for our teachers! We are extremely blessed to have such an innovative and dedicated teaching staff. Student learning, wellbeing and enjoyment is at the heart of everything they do to ensure your children are achieving and set up for success. Thank you, teachers! You are very much appreciated!
This week we had our final Kinder Orientation session. The children are well and truly school ready and are looking forward to 2024. Their Year 5 buddies were a huge support to them and ensured they were enjoying their new environment. We are extremely grateful to Shaye Cooper and Rachel Farley for their preparation and planning, Bridget Bradley for preparing the buddies and the preschool visits, and Mrs Katie Moran for assisting with the morning tea.
During the past eighteen months, the Catholic Education Office conducted a review of School Boards, Community Councils and P&Fs across the Archdiocese. The review has now concluded and in line with the recommendations made, our Community Council will be transitioning to a new School Community Council over the next few months. Our Community Council is working with the Catholic Education Office on aspects of the change, and I will provide you with more information in the weeks ahead regarding the transition and Council positions for 2024.
Our next Community Council meeting is an Open meeting on Wednesday, November 8 from 5:30pm to 6:15pm. The agenda is for our parents to come and view the new front office and classrooms and see the new devices purchased from fundraising this year. The Community Council will provide wine and nibblies. Please RSVP to the front office by Monday November 6. Following the Open Meeting, the Community Council will commence their formal council meeting.
The children have been very busy seeking sponsorship for the Colour Run. So far, they have managed to raise over $2000. This Friday they will participate in a sports afternoon in recognition of their efforts. Well done children and thank you parents for your support.
Have a great weekend
God Bless
Marylou,
Principal, St Bede's School
Dear Parents and Carers,
Mini Mission Fete
Yesterday Year 5 and 6 started organising their stalls for our annual Mini Mission Fete occurring on Friday 24, November from 11:45am-1pm. The students will be sharing their chosen activities with the rest of school next week and posters will be displayed around the school to advertise the day and fun activities that will be on offer. The fete will be raising money to be donated to our chosen charity for Term 4, Catholic Mission. More information will be provided closer to the day, the cost for tickets to participate in activities is 20c per ticket (1 ticket per activity).
Christmas Hamper Collection
We are now collecting donations of food to contribute to the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hampers organised by our amazing chapter leaders and members. Donations of non-perishable foods would be greatly appreciated to ensure those disadvantaged members of our local community are supported at Christmas time. A note will be coming home tomorrow with some more information and ideas of foods that can be donated. Please have your donations at school by Friday 24, November (Mini Mission Fete Day). All donations are gratefully accepted.
First Eucharist
We continue to keep our Year 3 students, Mason, Matilda, Nina, Jake, Charlie H, Teddy, Sam and Jay in our prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist on Saturday 18, November.
A Prayer for Peace
We offer a prayer of peace for our world, particularly for those suffering in Palestine and Israel.
Yours in faith,
Bridget Bradley

Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum - Term 4
Announcing the implementation of the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum
Throughout this term, our school will be implementing the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum with students in Years K-6 in Library lessons. The curriculum is based on principles of best practice in child safety education and centres around three key messages: Recognise, React and Report. Through a series of lessons, students will learn how to recognise, react and report when they are unsafe or find themselves in situations that can have a significant detrimental effect on their physical, psychological or emotional wellbeing.
Information about the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum can be found at www.education.qld.gov.au/child-safety-curriculum.
Term 4 School fees have been emailed out and are due for payment before 10 November 2023. For those families that are in their last term at St Bede's please ensure that your fees are fully paid before the due date.
We are asking parents not to pay their school fees through the Compass portal due to the fees charged - rather BPAY is the recommended system for school fees payments.
If you are paying by BPAY, please ensure you are using the new BPAY numbers. These details are found on the top right and bottom left of the emailed statements.

Boorowa Touch & Netball Carnival
What a day it was last Friday for the carnival! Boorowa turned on some beautiful weather, and the students, parents and teachers had a busy, action-packed day, with many Zooper Doopers eaten over the day! The children played some great games, especially given that many had never played touch or netball before! A big thankyou to the many parents who managed teams, set up and packed up gear, drove children, supervised, and supported the teachers. We certainly couldn’t attend this day without you and your support is very much appreciated. Bring on next year!
Our School Counsellor, Mari, will be visiting St Bede's on Fridays for the rest of this year. If you think your child would benefit from seeing a counsellor please complete the online referral form at https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form.
- Any children that are late to school, (after the morning bell) parents need to sign the children in at the office.
- Unwell Students (Cough, runny nose, fever etc.) should be kept at home, to help prevent the spread of illness through the school. The school has a small supply of RATs should any families require some, please contact the office.
- Please keep contact details up to date, if your address has changed email the office. Compass can be used to change email and phone details. If these details aren't kept up to date it makes it very difficult for staff to contact parents in an emergency.
Parents please note: St Bede's is a Nut Free school and as such the sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged, as we have several students that have severe reactions. Therefore Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters or nut products are strongly discouraged.
NSW Department of Transport - bus travel
The link to the department of transport for bus applications is: https://transportnsw.info/tickets-opal/ticket-eligibility-concessions/school-student-travel
This site can be used to apply for Travel pass (bus travel), to update existing travel arrangements and to apply for a school drive subsidy. The School Drive Subsidy is available for parents or guardians, who are residents of NSW, where there is no public transport available for all or part of their journey between home and school. This does not cover parents who chose to drive their children to school rather than catch the bus service.
For canteen to run at St Bede's we need at least two parent helpers for each week on the roster. If we do not have two volunteers then we are unable to have canteen and it will be cancelled for that week. Please refer to the below roster.
If canteen is cancelled then your child will need to bring their own lunch, as per a non canteen day. Please note that if canteen is cancelled and your child has an order, parents/carers will be contacted to provide lunch.
Any parents that are available to help canteen and have a couple of hours available on a Monday morning (Please see the roster for coming dates) please email the office.
If you have any questions about what is required to help on canteen please contact Brenda on 0438 275 032 or Trish on 0412 889507 or 02 48422027.
Please note that any parents volunteering for canteen must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). WWCC can be applied for through Service NSW (link) applying for a WWCC. Once you have received the clearance please send a copy of the email + your date of birth to the office as the clearances are checked.
