Dear Parents and Carers,
This Saturday at 6pm, several children in Year 3 will be making their First Communion. The children have been busy preparing over the past few weeks and we are extremely grateful to Cathy Ffrench and Anne Tracey for taking the children before mass each week to prepare the children. We thank the parents of the children for supporting them throughout their preparation. Please keep the children and their families in your prayers during the next few days.
Our builders have been extremely busy during the past few weeks. They have installed two water tanks and a sprinkler system for our oval. Fortunately, the rain we received over the past two weeks has already half-filled the tanks and the oval is looking much greener. The old front office refurbishment and new staff toilets are nearing completion and this week they commenced work on the Year 5 and 6 classrooms.
Our Community Council work extremely hard for our school. The participation and involvement of parents, carers and guardians in the life of the school is integral to building an open, inclusive, welcoming and collaborative school community. They attend and support school events, support school decisions and are committed to our meetings which occur twice each term.
Last week, the Community Council held an open meeting. Parents enjoyed some food and wine and viewed the new classrooms and front office as well as the touch screen televisions, devices and charging carts, which we have recently purchased to the value of over $43,000. The Community Council provided $10,000 towards the technology purchases which was raised from fundraising this year. Well done to all our parents and for supporting the fundraising committee with their initiatives. This has ensured our students are well resourced with technology to support their learning.
During 2024, all CECG schools will be implementing a new Community Council Constitution. During our Community Council meeting last week, Sarah Meyer, CE General Counsel and Governance, Risk and Policy Manager, provided information to assist us with the implementation of the new constitution next year. We currently have two positions vacant on our Community Council for 2024, a secretary and a parent representative. If you are interested in either of these positions, please submit an expression of interest to office.stbedes@cg.catholic.edu.au by Friday, November 24, 2024.
The Colour Run: Tomorrow, we have the event we have all been waiting for, the Colour Run! The children are very excited and the fundraising committee have been working overtime behind the scenes to prepare for this big event. A huge thank you to Marita Fuhrer, Kristi Morrison, Rachel Farley, Shaye Cooper, Sarah Hickey, Beck Thistleton, Nicole Vardanega and Millie Di Maio for their enthusiastic support coordinating and organising this event and to the parents and carers who are volunteering on the day with the BBQ and various jobs. A special thank you to our community and family sponsors: BGS Braidwood Ground Spraying, Braidwood Rural Mitre 10, Braidwood IGA, Community Bank Braidwood, Braidwood Veterinary Surgery, Len Mutton and Co, Becks Hair & Beauty , CINNAD pty ltd, RF Supply Chain Expertise, Morrison family, the Lions Club Braidwood, Bevege Mechanics and Overdrive Performance mechanics. We have raised over $5000 which is fantastic! We hope to see you all at school tomorrow, cheering on the children and joining in the fun!
Have a great weekend
God Bless
Marylou,
Principal, St Bede's School
Dear Parents and Carers,
First Eucharist
This Saturday, eight of our Year 3 students will be receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist. We are very proud of the efforts the students have put into their preparation sessions over the last month, supported by Cathy Ffrench and Ann Tracey. We invite all families to attend to show their support for our students as they take this next step in their faith formation journey. Students will receive the sacrament during Mass at St Bede's Church, beginning at 6pm.
Mini Mission Fete
Next Friday (24th November), our Year 5 and 6 leaders will be hosting our annual Mini Mission Fete to raise money for Catholic Mission. Students have been working hard behind the scenes for a number of weeks now, planning their stalls for the fete and are very excited to share these with the younger students at our Assembly tomorrow afternoon. Please remember to send in a gold coin or 2 with your child so they can participate in the event. Some stalls this year include haunted house, popcorn and snow cones, face painting, feely box and stretch the lolly snake. There is plenty of fun to be had by all! The fete will run from 11:30am-1pm.

Vinnies Christmas Appeal
A note was sent home a few weeks ago providing details about what types of non-perishable food items are being collected. Please consider how you can make a difference to someone's life this holiday season. All donations need to be at school by next Friday 24th November. Our Year 6 leaders will be assisting Vinnies volunteers to pack hampers so these can be distributed to local families in need.
Please deliver donations to your child's classroom or the front office.
A Prayer for Peace
We offer a prayer of peace for our world, particularly for those suffering in Palestine and Israel.
Yours in faith,
Bridget Bradley

NSW Department of Transport - Bus Travel
The link to the department of transport for bus applications is: https://transportnsw.info/tickets-opal/ticket-eligibility-concessions/school-student-travel
This site can be used to apply for Travel pass (bus travel), to update existing travel arrangements and to apply for a school drive subsidy. The School Drive Subsidy is available for parents or guardians, who are residents of NSW, where there is no public transport available for all or part of their journey between home and school. This does not cover parents who chose to drive their children to school rather than catch the bus service.
For canteen to run at St Bede's we need at least two parent helpers for each week on the roster. If we do not have two volunteers then we are unable to have canteen and it will be cancelled for that week. Please refer to the below roster.
If canteen is cancelled then your child will need to bring their own lunch, as per a non canteen day. Please note that if canteen is cancelled and your child has an order, parents/carers will be contacted to provide lunch.
Any parents that are available to help canteen and have a couple of hours available on a Monday morning (Please see the roster for coming dates) please email the office.
If you have any questions about what is required to help on canteen please contact Brenda on 0438 275 032 or Trish on 0412 889507 or 02 48422027.
Please note that any parents volunteering for canteen must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). WWCC can be applied for through Service NSW (link) applying for a WWCC. Once you have received the clearance please send a copy of the email + your date of birth to the office as the clearances are checked.
