Term 1 School Fees are now overdue for payment.
If you haven't paid these fees please either make the payment promptly or contact the school office to discuss your options.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Term one is almost over. It has been a busy but productive term with a wide range of activities offered for students and for parents. The children have made huge leaps with their learning and are continuing to work on their stories for the Braidwood Writers Festival and we are looking forward to seeing the final product next term.
Recently, we held our first working bee for the year. We had many jobs which needed to be done and the school looked amazing when the working bee concluded. A big thank you to Richard Bunn for his organisation and the Busby, Lyons, Phillips, Bunn and Razaeian families and the leadership team for their assistance on the day.
Last Tuesday evening, several students from St Bede’s participated in the Rotary Public Speaking Competition at Bungendore.
The Year 3 and 4 speakers were Kitty, Charlie and Eden.
Their topics were:
- What do you need to do to achieve good grades at school?
- Explain what home means to you.
- Does your family have a celebration that is special, and do you think other families around the world have this celebration as well?
The Year 5 and 6 speakers were Edith and Eleanor.
Their topics were:
- What does happiness mean to you?
- What are ‘needs’ and what are ‘wants’. Explain?
- How do you think the impact of the conflict in the Ukraine impacts the children of the Ukraine?
The children all spoke very well and the standard of speakers was extremely high. They competed against Sutton Primary, Tarago Primary, Gundaroo Primary and Bungendore Primary. Congratulations to Eleanor who was runner up and Edith who was given a special mention in the Year 5 and 6 section. We thank the parents who supported the children and drove them to Bungendore. It was a great experience for all the competitors. A special thank you to the Rotary club at Bungendore for their organisation and hospitality.
Over the past week, all classes have participated in Easter liturgies. Congratulations to all our students on their reverence and respect displayed throughout the liturgies and of their portrayal of the Easter story. Well done to Shaye Cooper, Acting REC on her impeccable organisation and to all parents and grandparents for attending.
Class Parent Representatives: Each year we request a parent from each class to undertake the role of class parent representative. The role is not arduous but it involves organising a social activity for parents as well as being the contact person for the class should a need arise for support e.g. when a parent or family member is ill, arrival of a new baby etc. If you think you could be a class contact, please email the front office at office.stbedesb@cg.catholic.edu.au
On Thursday April 25, St Bede’s school will be participating in the Anzac day March. If you would like your child to attend, they must wear their full school winter uniform and assemble outside St Bede’s Church by 10:30am. There will be an Anzac Liturgy at St Bede’s school on Wednesday, May 1 at 9:00am. All parents and grandparents are welcome to attend.
As this is the last full newsletter for term 1, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday! We look forward to seeing all students return on Wednesday May 1. Winter uniform will be phased in across the first two weeks with the expectation that all students are in winter uniform by week 3.
God Bless
Principal
Next term, on Friday May 3 (week one) St Bede’s will be hosting the Northern Regions Cross Country Carnival at the Braidwood Showground. We will be requiring volunteers to assist with marshalling for events and for the canteen. If you can assist as an official, please contact Katie Tooth and if you are able to assist with the canteen, please contact Kristi Morrison.
Dear parents and carers,
Last week, we recognised Holy Week as the most significant week in the Catholic Church. We began with Palm Sunday and moved through the story to Holy Saturday, before celebrating Jesus’ Resurrection on Easter Sunday. We thank our classes for leading the school through the different events in their prayer liturgies across the week. It was great to see so many parents and carers in attendance.
Our annual Easter Hat Parade was a success! The hats were amazing and decorated very creatively. A big thank you to all the families, community members and businesses that came out to support our students with cheers, waves and chocolate.
This year, Parish Mass will be held on the first Thursday of each month at 10am. Today we attended our first Mass as a school. We were very grateful to Father Josh for taking the time to explain the elements of the Church and Mass to the children. He commended the students on their reverent and respectful behaviour. Families are invited to attend Parish Mass.
Yours in faith,
Shaye Cooper

Unwell Students (Cough, runny nose, fever, vomiting etc.) If your child is unwell please keep them at home. If your child has vomitted the night before, please keep them at home, even if you think they are okay. The NSW Health guidelines suggest that students who have vomitted should be kept at home for 48 hours to help prevent the spread of illness through the school. Our School Counsellor, Faith, will be visiting St Bede's on Wednesdays this year. Please see the below information regarding the service and how to make an appointment.
How to make an appointment.
If your child was seen by the school counsellor in previous years and you would like them to receive support in 2024, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. The link can be found below. New referrals and requests can be made via the same link.
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email. Where parents are separated, we require the written consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received, I will contact parents on a Wednesday to further discuss the referral and determine whether school counselling can meet your child’s needs or if an external referral may be more appropriate.
Referrals can be submitted here https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form

MacKillop Swimming
Yesterday Leo, Luca, Teddy and Jake (Year 4) travelled to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to compete in the MacKillop swimming championships. They swam very well as a team in the Junior boys relay, improving on their PB again from the last carnival. A fantastic effort - well done boys!

From last week, we began distributing the Newsletter via Compass as well as via Schoolzine. From the beginning of Term 2, it will only be distributed via Compass.

Please reach out if you have any questions. amy.doszpot@cg.catholic.edu.au
St Bede's is a Nut Free school
St Bede's is a nut free school - This mean that students should not bring anything containing nuts to school, this includes Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters as we have several students who are highly allergic to these items.
The sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged.
- Next term it will be full winter uniform by week 3 of the term.
- Please ensure that you have access to the Compass Parent Portal App and that you are using this portal for full day absences and checking for school messages. Be aware that as of next term our newsletter will be sent out through the app.
-
Parents are reminded to ensure that all your child's clothing is labelled very clearly. We have found that using a fabric pen on the collar or underside of your child's hat works well.
It is very hard to return clothing items to family's if there is no name.
- Please keep an eye on our FaceBook page for the latest happenings around the school. St Bede's FaceBook page
