Late yesterday, we received the sad news that Mrs Rebecca McPake passed away. She has been unwell for several months and following surgery in January her health declined. Rebecca taught at St Bede's in 2022, she was a much loved teacher and will be fondly remembered for her bright personality. Please keep her husband Keef and her family in your prayers.
Eternal Rest
Eternal rest grant unto her,
O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.
Amen
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is wonderful to see the great learning that is happening across the school. The children have been participating in their diagnostic assessment, which is informative assessment for teachers, measuring the students progress in Reading, Mathematics and Spelling. The consistent efforts of our teachers are certainly being reflected in the results that we are seeing supported with the fantastic programs which have been implemented from K-6. We are also very fortunate to have the additional support of our amazing Classroom Support Assistants who conduct regular sessions with students in MiniLit, MacqLit, Spelling Mastery, Maths Mastery and Royal Far West as well as providing additional assistance in the classroom with students and in small groups.
Next week, we will be conducting parent teacher interviews. On Wednesday June 26, we will be offering times from 2pm to 6pm. These interviews will be 15-minute interviews without the students present. During the meeting, the progress of each student as evidenced in their end of Semester reports, will be discussed. We encourage you to take this opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their academic performance and attitude to learning. Parent interviews are a compulsory part of the report writing process. If in the event you are unable to attend, please contact the class teacher and arrange an alternate time. Bookings can be made on the Compass Parent Portal, please check your Compass portal to find the link. Please note that bookings will close at 2pm tomorrow.
Braidwood Writer’s Festival is fast approaching. Parents, please ensure you have returned the entry forms for your children by this Friday June 21. All entries will be submitted on Friday June 28. We are seeing fantastic writing from the children. We look forward to seeing the published stories from each class.
Our Community Council will be meeting next Tuesday at 5:30pm at school. We will have Sarah Rose CE Parent Engagement Officer, attending the meeting to complete our Annual School Community Council Plan
Some reminders:
- Lost property is overflowing: If your child has lost an item of clothing, please check the lost property bucket near the hall. Please ensure your child’s clothing is clearly labelled. If your child is wearing clothing from someone who has left or from the clothing pool, please ensure it is labelled with the new owner’s name. We have had issues with children accidentally taking home items of clothing which don’t belong to them and their owners would welcome their return. Parents, please check your child's clothing to ensure they have their items.
- Please ensure your child is in the correct uniform each day. Coloured jackets, beanies and scarves are not our uniform. If unsure of our correct uniform, please click on this link - our Uniform Policy has been endorsed by the Community Council.
We wish all our students participating in the NR Athletics Carnival the best of luck next Friday, June 28.
Have a lovely weekend!
God bless
Marylou Gorham
Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Next term, we will offer Sacramental programs for First Holy Communion (Year 3) and Confirmation (Year 5/6). These will be run by Mrs Cathy Ffrench and Mrs Ann Tracey from the St Bede’s Parish again. We thank them for their ongoing support of our children’s faith development. An information note regarding enrolment in these programs was sent home with students last week. We ask families to please return these notes to indicate whether your child will be participating, by Friday 28th June. If you have any questions regarding the Sacramental programs, please contact Cathy Ffrench (at the Presbytery 4842 2444) or Shaye Cooper (via front office).
We invite our families and parishioners to join us on Wednesday 3rd July at 9am in the School Hall for our NAIDOC Week Liturgy. This liturgy will be presented by Year 1.
Yours in faith,
Shaye Cooper
Religious Education Coordinator (Acting)
Parable of the Mustard Seed
"The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed,
which a man took and sowed in his field,
which indeed is the least of all the seeds;
but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree,
so that the birds of the air come and nest in this branches."
Matthew 13:31-32
Our School Counsellor, Faith, will be visiting St Bede's on Wednesdays this year. Please see the below information regarding the service and how to make an appointment.
How to make an appointment.
If your child was seen by the school counsellor in previous years and you would like them to receive support in 2024, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. The link can be found below. New referrals and requests can be made via the same link.
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email. Where parents are separated, we require the written consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received, I will contact parents on a Wednesday to further discuss the referral and determine whether school counselling can meet your child’s needs or if an external referral may be more appropriate.
Referrals can be submitted here https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
