Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome Back!
I hope everyone enjoyed the change of pace over the school holidays. I certainly did, spending precious time with family and friends who visited me at the coast. A big thank you to all the teachers for their planning and preparation during the break to ensure a smooth and successful start to Term 3. It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of our students returning to school, they have already made me feel very special and supported in my role as Acting Principal this term.
Friendology – Parent Access
As mentioned last term, we are excited to be introducing Friendology at St Bede’s. All parents are encouraged to sign up (for free!) to gain access to the program's full library of resources to help support your child in building and maintaining healthy friendships. Click here to register Simply enter your name, email address and a password, then select St Bede’s Braidwood from the school list.
Breaking of the Ground – Infants Playground
Last Friday we held the official Breaking of the Ground Ceremony for our new Infants Playground. We were delighted to welcome representatives from our major sponsors: Nick Fry, Richard Elliot, Susi Pluess and Anjali Williams from Community Bank Braidwood and Jayne Barden from Veolia Mulwaree Trust. We are incredibly grateful for their generous $45,000 contributions to help bring this project to life.
Construction is expected to begin very soon—and our students couldn’t be more excited!
“I’m excited about the new playground because the big playground is quite old and my Mummy used to play on it!” - Aubree, Kinder
“I’m excited because everyone will have so much fun!” - Hudson, Kinder
“It will mean friends can play together.” - Jude, Kinder
“We will play new games with our friends on the small monkey bars.” - Zita, Yr 1
“I’m excited to see the new equipment and play on it!” - Rudy, Yr 1
“Thank you for building the playground. It must have been lots of hard work.” - Charlie Yr 2
“I love how you put all your work into building this playground for us!” - Holly, Yr 2
“Thank you for the new playground. I’m so excited!” - Lachie, Yr 2
Hats Back On!
This Friday marks the start of August, which means it is time for hats to return! As part of our SunSmart practices, students are now required to wear hats during all outdoor activities. Please ensure hats are clearly labelled with your child’s name to help with returning lost property.
New Roof Update
During the holidays, a brand new roof was installed over the Year 4–6 building and this weekend the rooftop crosses will be freshly painted. A big thank you to Catholic Education for funding this project—no more buckets during wet weather!
House Points
Last Thursday, Yellow House enjoyed their park play as the winning House for Term 2 —congratulations! This term, house points are once again up for grabs as students continue to live out our school values of Live, Love, Learn. Good luck to all houses, let the friendly competition begin!
Here’s to another week of living, loving, and learning!
Principal (Acting)
As we move through Term 3, there are several beautiful opportunities for our school and parish communities to come together in faith, fellowship and celebration.
We warmly invite all families to join us for our upcoming Whole School Liturgy in honour of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first saint. This special liturgy will be held on Wednesday, 6 August at 9:00am in the school hall, and will be led by our Year 2 students. We encourage all families to attend as we reflect on the life and legacy of St Mary, who reminds us to "never see a need without doing something about it."
Additionally, we are pleased to share the following parish events:
- St Mary MacKillop Feast Day Parish Mass – Thursday 8 August at 11:00am. Held at St Patrick’s, Araluen, this Mass will celebrate the life of St Mary MacKillop. Please bring a chair or picnic rug and a plate of food to share afterwards as we enjoy lunch and time in fellowship within the peaceful surroundings of Araluen.
Today, our First Nations students, accompanied by Miss Millsom and Ms Farley, had the special opportunity to attend the NAIDOC Week Mass in Goulburn. This meaningful celebration brought together students from across the region to honour and reflect on the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our students proudly represented St Bede’s and were able to share the experience with a nominated friend, deepening the spirit of inclusion and community. Following the Mass, Tyrone R in Year 6 and Fallon H in Year 5 were both presented with NAIDOC Week awards which recognised their deep commitment to various aspects of school life. The NAIDOC Awards celebrate and elevate the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our school communities, and we are incredibly proud of both Tyrone and Fallon!
We look forward to celebrating these upcoming special occasions as a school and parish community, united in the spirit of faith, service, and love.

2025 Term Dates
- Term 3 – Tuesday 22 July – Thursday 25 September
- Term 4 – Tuesday 14 October – Thursday 18 December
- If you are coming into the school outside of drop off and pick up times you are required to report to the office and sign in. It is important that we have a record of all visitors to the school.
- Please be mindful of what containers you send to school with your child. Please do not send ring pull cans (like the lids on small tuna cans etc.) or glass containers as these present a cutting hazard to children. Please open the can at home and place in a plastic container.
- We would ask that soft drinks are not sent to school with your children as we do try to encourage a healthy alternative like water.
- If your child is unwell, please place their absence through the Compass Parent Portal App. There is no need to then notify the office once you have placed it into the Compass app.
Interschools Snowsports Championships
Last week, five of our talented students represented St Bede’s at the ACT/Southern NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships held at Perisher. Elise (Yr 2), Blaine (Yr 3), Tess (Yr 3), Benjamin (Yr 4) and Teddy (Yr 5) competed across a range of skiing and snowboarding disciplines including grand slalom, cross and moguls.
It was a fantastic opportunity for them to experience high-level competition and meet students from schools across the region. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the way they represented our school with pride and enthusiasm. Well done to all involved!
Congratulations to Tess and Benjamin who qualified to compete at the NSW State Interschools Championships in Perisher next month. We wish you the very best of luck!

=2nd – BeckThiso & TopDog02 - 99 points
- Parents are reminded to check that their child's name is on all their clothing - it is impossible to return clothes with no name.
- The school has a 2nd hand uniform pool. If you would like any uniform items please call into the office to complete an order form or alternatively email the office with your order. St Bede's is a nut free school - This mean that students should not bring anything containing nuts to school, this includes Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters as we have several students who are highly allergic to these items.
The sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged.
School Counsellor
Currently we are without a school counsellor and Marymead are continuing to look for a replacement for us. Meanwhile parents can still complete referrals via the below link, and where possible support will be via their telehealth system.
