Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Friday, Mrs Bridget Bradley and I attended the Clergy, Principal and Religious Education Coordinator Day in Canberra, which brought together leaders from the 56 schools across our Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with clergy and school leaders, share in prayer, and reflect on our shared mission in Catholic education and our key role of evangelisation.
Message of Peace
Our week began with a special visit from the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run team before they continued their journey to Queanbeyan. The team began their run in Canberra on April 24 and has circumnavigated the whole of Australia, returning to Canberra to complete the journey.
The Peace Run is a worldwide relay where runners carry a Peace Torch, passing it from hand to hand, person to person, across nations. It is a symbolic way to share a universal longing for peace. What an honour for St Bede’s to be part of this global movement!
We combined the visit with our Cultural Day, celebrating the wonderful diversity within our school community. Students enjoyed sharing their cultural heritage and rotating through a variety of activities which included sampling delicious treats provided by families.
A huge thank you to Miss Hayley Millsom for organising and coordinating such a special day, the teachers for running activities and to all families who contributed food. The message of peace was certainly reflected in the way students shared, connected, and enjoyed the day together.

Feast of the Assumption
I invite all members of our school community to join us for Parish Mass this Friday to celebrate the Holy Day of Obligation for the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Feast of the Assumption honours Mary’s special place in God’s plan and her being taken into Heaven, body and soul. The feast reminds us of Mary’s faith, love, and devotion, and inspires us to follow her example in our own lives. Mass will begin at 10:15am at the St Bede’s Church.
Robogals Incursion
On Friday, our Year 3 and 4 students will take part in an incursion run by Robogals Canberra, a non-profit volunteer organisation dedicated to encouraging children to see the fun in STEM. Year 3 students will rotate through stations to learn about chromatography (chemistry), projectile motion (physics), and strawberry DNA (biology). Year 4 will be using Makey Makey kits to create their own circuits, combining crafts and electricity to learn about conductors and insulators.
We thank the volunteers from Robogals for providing this exciting and engaging learning opportunity for our students.
Here’s to another week of living, loving, and learning!

- If you are coming into the school outside of drop off and pick up times you are required to report to the office and sign in. It is important that we have a record of all visitors to the school.
- Please be mindful of what containers you send to school with your child. Please do not send ring pull cans (like the lids on small tuna cans etc.) or glass containers as these present a cutting hazard to children. Please open the can at home and place in a plastic container.
- We would ask that soft drinks are not sent to school with your children as we do try to encourage a healthy alternative like water.
- If your child is unwell, please place their absence through the Compass Parent Portal App. There is no need to then notify the office once you have placed it into the Compass app.
- A reminder that children should be wearing a school hat during morning play, recess and lunch - please remind your child/ren to pack their hat into their bag.
- Please check that all your child's clothing has their name - it is impossible to return clothes with no name.
- The school has a 2nd hand uniform pool. If you would like any uniform items, please call into the office to complete an order form or alternatively email the office with your order. You will be contacted once the order has been filled. Please note that as the uniform pool relies on donations from parents, we do not have a full range of items or sizes. Any families who have uniforms that they no longer need, please consider donating these back to the school, these can be left at the office. Thank you!
- Len Mutton and Co are the schools official uniform supplier. They are located in the main street or phone 0248422446 or email lenmutton@bigpond.com
St Bede's is a Nut Free school
St Bede's is a nut free school - This mean that students should not bring anything containing nuts to school, this includes Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters as we have several students who are highly allergic to these items.
The sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged.
Braidwood Swimming Club Needs Your Help!
After another great season, Braidwood Swimming Club is looking for new committee members – especially people with swimming experience – to help keep our Monday night program thriving.
If you can offer stroke tips, coach, or help out with other club night jobs (like timekeeping, BBQ or marshalling), we’d love to hear from you. The main commitment is Monday evenings from mid-November to mid-March.
It’s a fun, family-friendly way to get involved in the community and support local kids in building their skills and water safety.
