Reminder: Pupil Free Day Monday 26 April 2021
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to all our beautiful staff, students, and families. It was just wonderful to see all our students return with their beautiful smiles and all so happy and eager to be back. Whilst most of our students are in their winter uniform the students have the first two weeks to transition. Some families have alerted the school with issues obtaining some of the winter uniform especially trousers. Should you happen to be having issues with uniform e.g., pants please don’t hesitate to have your child/children wear a similar colour pants or trackie bottoms.
During the holidays I received the news that the Before and After School and Vacation Care program won’t be going ahead due to the high number of ‘occasionally’ responses received. In order to be able to sustain the service the regular use would need to be much higher. Thank you so much for the time and effort that you have spent filling out the surveys.
A note was sent home last term about Class Representatives for each class. Thank you to the parents who have returned their notes. We now have class representatives for Kinder, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 5. If you would like to be the class representative for Years 1, 4 or 6 please contact the front office. This is a wonderful opportunity to establish friendships and networks and to set up social events outside of school, play dates in the park, coffee sessions etc.
COVID19 restrictions: The capping of no more than 100 adults at an event at school remains. Below are the updated changes to the plan:
- No restrictions on catering
- Medical clearance is no longer required where persons are returning to school if they have been unwell (noting differs if a person has been diagnosed with COVID-19)
- No requirements for wearing a mask at indoor venues or while using transport services.
- Physical distancing is now recommended rather than required where practicable.
- No restrictions on group work or any school related activities.
- No capacity restriction in offices.
- No restrictions on singing in places of worship.
Playgroup will commence on Friday April 30 at St Bede’s for 0 to 5-year olds. It will be conducted in the old Drama room. Parents if you are interested just come along, there is no need to pre-enrol. We are still in need of any unwanted toys or books that you have. Please drop them into the front office by next Friday.
This Sunday is ANZAC day. On ANZAC day we commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served". We will be participating in the ANZAC march. If your child wishes to participate, please ensure they are in their correct winter uniform, and that it is neat and tidy. Please meet the teachers outside St Bede’s Catholic Church at 10:20 am, where names will be marked off.
God Bless
Marylou Gorham
RE News
Welcome to Term 2!
We warmly welcome Father Mick to our community. Father Mick visited our school on Tuesday, and it was a wonderful opportunity for him to meet the children and staff.
The Sacrament of First Reconciliation will be taking place in Term 2 for children in Year 3 and above. Please let Miss Kaptein know if you would like your child to make this sacrament this term.
Autumn Months
O God of Creation, you have blessed us with the changing of the seasons.
As we welcome the autumn months, may the earlier setting of the sun remind us to take time to rest.
May the brilliant colours of the leaves remind us that it is you who gives us the breath of life.
May the harvest from the fields remind us of the abundance we have been given and bounty we are to share with others.
May the dying of summer's spirit remind us of your great promise that death is temporary and life is eternal. We praise you for your goodness forever and ever.

WORKING BEE this Friday 2pm till 5pm
Thank you to those that have offered to assist with the Working Bee on Friday.
We still need more helpers please.
We have a variety of tasks to complete including pruning plants/hedges, collecting of green waste, cleaning gutters, blowing leaves, moving mulch, removal of rubbish/old pallets/broken pavers and the list goes on. If you have any gardening equipment at home that you could bring in this Friday, it would be appreciated. Useful equipment could include wheelbarrows, hedgers, pruners, power blowers, ladders, rakes, buckets etc
We would love someone with a rotary hoe for the Softfall mulch around play equipment and long jump pit as well as an edger for all garden paths and basketball court. If you have either of these, please let Ged Galvin know through the front office so we don’t end up with two!! These would be appreciated greatly.
We will conclude at 5pm with a BBQ and drinks.
If you are unable to assist Friday but are willing to help, there will be a pile of green waste that you are encouraged to fill a ute or trailer with and take to the green waste centre. There may also be a pile of general waste that needs to be taken also. This can be done at a time that suits you [outside of school hours please]. You may wish to use the rotary hoe outside of school hours. Once again, please let the school know.
Thank you for your support of St Bede’s students and school.

Uniform Notice
The school office has received a phone call from Len Mutton & Co, the schools uniform supplier.
At St Bede's our uniform is unique (made to order), coupled with this reason and supply issues due to COVID related import restrictions, it is making the supply of stock very difficult. Mutton's has advised that there will be a 6-8 week wait on exiting orders and they thank you for your patience.
Meanwhile should you be having issues with winter unforms, please see the Principal's message.
The uniform pool will be open this Friday afternoon, 23 April, from 3 pm, Kahla will be there to assist with any uniform requirement you may need. Please note payment is by cash only and that payment is require on the day.
We will also gratefully accept any uniform items that your family no longer needs—all profits from the uniform pool go directly back to the school, via the Community council.
