Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we entered the second week of Lent and continue to challenge the students of St. Bede’s to seek out ways to assist those less fortunate then ourselves. It may be the people of Ukraine, the communities of Northern NSW and South East Queensland or people in our own community. The students not only pray for others, but also give thanks for the many good things in their lives as reflected in the words of Australia’s own St. Mary Mackillop – “We have much for which to be thankful”.
I mentioned to students at last Fridays assembly that the school will be implementing a new practice to celebrate student birthdays. From Friday onwards on their birthday students will be allowed to come dressed in casual clothes. If their birthday falls on a weekend or during the holidays they are allowed to choose a day either side of the weekend or holiday. For those who have already celebrated their birthdays this year they may celebrate on the same day in one of the coming months. For example a March 4th birthday can be celebrated on the 4th of April, 4th of May etc. Students must ensure that they have the correct clothes to participate in sport.
Congratulations to all our swimmers who represented the school at the recent swimming carnival in Queanbeyan. A special congratulation to the following swimmers who have progressed through to representing MacKillop at the next level. We wish Ivy and Evie all the best.
In line with the NSW Covid road map this week will be the final week that St Bede’s gives out RATS tests. Families this week will receive 4 test kits, per child, to be taken home via the classroom.
A reminder that all students need to have returned their ICT agreement. Students aren’t allowed to access computers at school until the form has been returned. Please contact your classroom teacher if you need a copy.
Last night we had the Parent teacher touch base meetings. This was to allow teachers to touch base with parents something that Covid has prevented us from doing. If you were unable to attend due to a clash of times or technical difficulties please contact your child’s teacher to make an appointment. Hopefully the next time we meet will be face to face.
Hoping you have a great weekend, we have some dry weather and the West Tigers begin their march toward the 2022 premiership.

Assistant Principal
Our prayers also continue for the people of Ukraine and for those countries next to Ukraine who are opening their hearts and homes to refugees. As we remember these people and communities let us also check in to see if our personal lives are there those we need to reconcile with and forgive during this time. The following passage from Matthew (5:23-24) shows us the importance of our relationship with others.
"If you are bringing your offering to the altar and there you remember that your brother
has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar
and go and be reconciled with your brother first."
May God bless you and your family.

School fees have been sent home, thank you to those families who have already paid their Term 1 fees. These are due for payment before Monday 21 March 2022.
Parents who pay by regular instalments are asked to review their repayment amount to ensure that the repayment will cover the yearly fees. A copy of the fee schedule can be found here:
Any families who may need assistance are asked to contact the office.
Bus information
If your child is catching a bus, other than their registered and approved Department of Transport bus run, for any reason, such as going to a friend’s place or a regular after school activity, parents must notify the school of the change, before 2:30pm, for every day that the change happens. The bus company also charges a fee of $3.00;
The school will then complete a white slip (change to departure slip) for your child. Your child will need to hand the white slip + $3:00 for the fare to the bus driver. If we are not notified or parents don't provide the $3:00 your child will be unable to take the bus.
PIN Forms
Parents are asked to complete and return all the following forms to the classroom teacher.
- ICT agreement - to allow your child access to ICT at school
- Departure agreement - How your child gets home in the afternoon
- Medical update - updated details on medical issues that your child might have - this is important in case of emergencies
