Dear Parents nad Carers,
Welcome back to all our students, staff and families. We hope you have all had a relaxing time and enjoyed the break from the school routines. It is wonderful that Covid restrictions have now been lifted and we are able to have school events and parents and families back at school. We look forward to seeing you all at drop off and pick up time and in between. Please note we have several events planned for this term including grandparents and special friends day, disco and parent meet and greet night. Please check the calendar in the newsletter for dates and times. The first event is the disco, information will be sent home next week about this. The Year 5 and 6 camp is in week 5 and notes will be sent home about camp next week.
During the last week of term 3 we had school registration. Every five years a panel from Catholic Education visit our school and view our classrooms, teaching and learning and compliance documentation. The panel were extremely impressed with the teaching and learning that is occurring at St Bede’s, our dedicated and supportive staff and the extra efforts we go to, for inclusive education to support our students in need. They were particularly impressed with our warm and vibrant classrooms, our beautiful students, their impeccable manners and our friendly and welcoming staff and students.
On Monday St Bede’s hosted professional development which was attended by teachers from St Bede’s, St Gregory’s Queanbeyan, St Mary’s Moruya and CE consultants. It was facilitated by Dr Lorraine Hammond with the focus on explicit instruction when teaching writing and vocabulary.
Some comments we would like to share…
From Catalyst Consultants-‘Thanks to you and all of your staff for making Brooke and I feel so welcomed at St Bede’s yesterday. There was a great vibe to the school and everyone was absolutely lovely – St Bede’s would be a school I’d feel lucky to work in and/or have my daughter attend’.
From a visiting teacher… ‘Thank you for today. Your school has a great vibe. Many of our staff commented that it was gorgeous. The catering was organisation was excellent! Well done St Bede’s’!
Tomorrow we are hosting the Northern Regions Public Speaking Competition at St Bede’s. Our students from Years 3 to 6 have been working hard on their speeches. A special thank you to our adjudicators-Mandy O’Brien, Paul Minogue, Cathy French and Katrina McGrath. We wish Josie M, Josie S-L, Edie, Eleanor, Oscar, Evie, Ivy and Sally all the very best of luck! Parents from Years 3 to 6 are reminded to please bring in a plate of food to share for our visitors and competitors for morning tea.
Have a great week.
God Bless
News from the Community Council
As COVID restrictions have lifted, the Community Council were able to gather in person and hold an open meeting last night. Parents were able to attend the open meeting, to meet the Community Council, Principal and attending teachers and to discuss topics around the building refurbishment and parent events.
It was very pleasing to have such a strong roll up of parents and we would like to thank everyone that attended and participated in discussions. There were some very good discussions around the plans for building, parent engagement, and fundraising. We will keep you updated as we progress with suggestions from last night’s meeting.
The Community Council are very excited to announce that, through previous fund-raising events, we have been able to purchase a new commercial grade oven for the canteen! This will make canteen and any catering events much easier and more efficient. We are already planning and looking forward to a special canteen day to celebrate the first use of the new oven!
The Council are also looking forward to some great family participation events planned for this term, and being able to catch up with families, so please keep up to date on upcoming events in the newsletter.
As Community Council, Chair, I am more than happy for parents with any suggestions or looking to be more involved with St Bede’s to please contact me.
Thank you
Amanda Vardanega

- Kindergarten - 2023
- Orientation session are starting next week
- Morning Drop off
- Parents are reminded that if you drop your child/ren off after 8:55 am that you need to come into the school office to sign your child in - this is a CE requirement.
- Lost Property
-
- Parents are reminded to ensure that they label all school clothes as we currently have a growing pile of unlabelled uniforms. We suggest using fabric paint or iron-on labels as they last well.
