Principals Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Wow what a fantastic day everyone had at the Colour Run. You could not wipe the smiles from the faces of the children, as they ran around the obstacle course being sprayed with various colours. A very big thank you to our wonderful organisers: Marita Fuhrer, Kristi Morrison, Rachel Farley, Shaye Cooper, Bec Thistleton, Millie Di Maio, Sarah Hickey and Nicole Vardanega. The children enjoyed the obstacle course and the barbeque, food and refreshments. We would like to thank our sponsors: Bendigo Bank - Community Bank Braidwood & Crookwell Agency, Len Mutton & Co - Fiona Mutton, Braidwood Ground Spraying - BGS - Sutton family, Braidwood Veterinary Surgery, Braidwood Mitre 10 & Rural - obstacle course, IGA Braidwood – fruit, Gordon Waters Photography, Clare Young Videography, Leila Picken craft and decoration supplies, Becks Hair & Beauty – sponsored coloured wigs, CINNAD pty ltd - sponsored helium, RF Supply Chain Expertise - $100 of props including- pool noodles, batteries, bandanas, towards bubble machine hire, Morrison family – spray paint, Lions Club Braidwood for the use of their speakers and microphones, Bevage and Overdrive Performance Mechanics for the donation of tyres for our obstacle course, Ebejer family - gas bottle. The class who raised the most amount of money was Kinder and as a reward they will had a plain clothes day today. The top three fundraisers were Leo E and Rain W in Kinder, Jess M in Year 1 and Sam M in Year 3 and they will be presented with special awards at the assembly next Friday.

Staffing News: After many years of teaching and commitment to St Bede’s, Mrs Ann Monkhouse and Mrs Jennie Marsh are retiring from their teaching positions. Fortunately, Jennie is looking forward to returning as a casual teacher next year. Mrs Taureta Gwinn has resigned from her teaching position as she is moving closer to Canberra. We thank Mrs Wanda Wolfe for teaching Year 2 and her willingness to travel from the coast each week. Mrs Bridget Bradley will be taking maternity leave next year as the birth of her new baby is happening soon. Ms Shaye Cooper will be Acting Religious Education Coordinator in Bridget’s absence. We congratulate Shaye and wish her every success in this significant leadership role. The staffing for 2024 will be announced before the transition to class day, as we are still in the process of finalising teachers.

After many months of noise and the school resembling a construction site, the building project is finally finished. We will be moving back into the upstairs classrooms towards the end of next week. The demountable classroom will be removed during the January holidays. It was a requirement that it was to be removed at the completion of the project.  During the holidays, new furniture will be arriving for the Admin area and the new classrooms, in readiness for the new school year. We are so blessed to have these newly refurbished spaces!

We have had severel students falling from the play equipment, resulting in fractures. We have had to implement some new rules to ensure everyone is safe and to prevent further serious falls. We will be exploring other options for our play equipment next year.

A reminder-all raffle tickets for our special Christmas fundraising raffle are due this Friday December 8. The raffle will be drawn at assembly.

As the term nears to an end, we have several significant events occuring, including our end of year liturgy as well as a school picnic in the park which parents, grandparents and special friends are most welcome to attend. Please check the school calendar to see what is on.

Have a great weekend

God Bless
