Last week, St Bede’s students attended the launch of the Braidwood Lions Young Writers Festival for 2024. Edith W and Nicholas P represented our school with a wonderful speech on what writing means to them. We are excited to be involved in the bi-ennial Festival. This initiative has been running since 2018 and is a significant event in our community and school calendar. We are grateful to the Lions Club, Bendigo Bank and patron Jackie French for the opportunity.

All students will participate in the Braidwood Lions Young Writers Festival. This will be a major project that we will work on at school in Term 2. Students will draft, edit and publish a piece of writing to submit by the end of June. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to interact with renowned authors and discover the power of writing. The judges for this year are Jackie French, Robyn Goodwyn, Cate Whittle, Harry Laing, Julian Davies and Roger Mcdonald. At the end of the Festival an awards ceremony will be held in National Theatre (late November) to congratulate students on their efforts. A book will be published with winning entries and excellent cash prizes are on offer.
