Principals Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. This significant feast day recalls the spiritual and physical departure of the mother of Jesus Christ from the earth, when both her soul and her body were taken into the presence of God. All our students participated in a special mass at St Bede’s Church. We thank Father Josh for celebrating the mass and Ms cooper for all her preparation.
Recently, our Community Council met and discussed the plans for playground improvements. Plans are well in place for the purchase of new Infants Play Equipment, which will be a wonderful asset for our school. This will not only provide more options for our Infants students for play but will provide opportunities for the students to develop their physical, social, and emotional well-being, enhancing both gross and fine motor skills along with core strength. We are hoping the project will commence this year.
Tomorrow at assembly, the Walkathon will be launched. This will be held on the last day of this term at the Recreation Ground. All proceeds will be going towards the purchase of the play equipment. More information will be coming soon so please watch out for this and encourage the children to start getting sponsors. There are some fabulous prizes and great incentives for the classes that raise the most money.
Other areas of focus for the Community Council are the Sensory Garden. Recently a grant was obtained to establish a sensory garden. It is envisaged that this will be incorporated with an outdoor education space and vegetable garden at the rear of the Infants classrooms. The students from Kinder to Year 6 will all have an opportunity to use the space for learning as well as assisting with planting and designing. Plans are well in place to commence work on the garden before the end of the year. We look forward to seeing how this evolves.
Next Thursday is Book Week. The Book Week parade will commence at 9:15am and will be held on the Basketball Courts. All children are encouraged to dress up and come to school in their costumes. The theme this year is ‘Reading is Magic’. We can’t wait to see the costumes and the creative ideas of the children, assisted by their wonderful parents.
The Northern Regions Public Speaking Competition will be conducted next Friday, August 23 at St Mary’s Crookwell. The students from Years 3 to 6 have been extremely busy working on their speeches and conducting class speaking competitions to select the finalists. This is a wonderful experience for our students and they have enjoyed the opportunity to write and present their speeches. We wish our students attending, the best of luck and thank our parents for providing transport.
This Saturday some of our Year 3 students will be making their First Eucharist at St Bede’s Church at 5pm. The children are looking forward to this and we are extremely grateful to their parents for supporting them and for Mrs Cathy Ffrench and Mrs Ann Tracey for preparing them assisted by Mr Bob Fletcher. Please keep our Year 3 students and their families in your prayers.
Recently, Katie Moran's mother passed away. Please keep Katie, Steve and their families in your prayers during this sad time.
Eternal Rest
Eternal rest grant unto her,
O Lord,
and let the perpetual light shine upon her.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.
Amen
God Bless
