Principals Report

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Recently, St Bede’s had the official opening and blessing of the new Administration Block and the Brother Brian Berg Wing. We were delighted to see our beautiful new state of the art facilities, officially opened and blessed by the Vicar General, Fr Richard Thompson. Mr Ross Fox, the Director of CECG Catholic Education and the Member for Monaro Steve Whan attended to celebrate the occasion with staff, students, previous Principals and staff, CECG staff, parents, grandparents and parishioners. What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our beautiful school.

World Teachers Day was celebrated last Thursday with a special morning tea hosted by our support staff and Mrs Gorham. Our teachers go above and beyond for all our students to ensure they enjoy learning and their needs are catered for each day. How blessed are we to have such talented and creative teachers!

Last Sunday, many of our students participated in BYPAA Wonderwood performance. Our students were outstanding. Congratulations to all our students who participated and the many hours of work by our teachers that went into practicing and preparing for this event and for attending the weekend rehearsals. A special thank you to Shaye Cooper, Amy Doszpot, Jade Crispin and Renee Foot. Together they write the script, choose the music and created the props and all our staff supported and assisted the Arts rotations which occured each week. A special mention to Jade Crispin for composing the amazing ‘We Are Braidwood’ song. We are fortunate to have such a skilled staff. A great team effort!

On Tuesday, we hosted our annual Melbourne Cup events. Students and staff were invited to wear a fascinator or accessory to school, for fashions on the playground. The children fossicked in their gardens and found their fastest snails and bought them into school in anticipation of the Snail Cup. During Recess, Mrs Tooth organised the track and trial races. This was quickly followed by the grand final. The snail in first place was Luca R’s snail, ‘Lightning' and second place was ‘Jeff ', Jack L’s snail. Congratulations boys! You will be awarded your special trophies at assembly this week.

This week, we had our first Kinder Orientation for our 2025 Kinder students. The children had a great time and left the classroom with big smiles on their faces. We look forward to seeing them again on Tuesday next week.

On Thursday December 5, all parents are invited to an Open Community Council meeting at St Bede’s. The agenda is to view the plans for the new Sensory Garden. We hope you can come along, meet our Community Council members, enjoy some wine and cheese, and view the plans and provide any input for the new garden. This will be held in the Infants courtyard commencing at 5:30pm and conclude at 6:20pm, in time for the Community Council Executive to have their final meeting for 2024 at 6:30pm.

Our Year 5 and 6 students left for camp yesterday at Berry Sport and Recreation Centre, accompanied by Renee Foot, Bob Fletcher and Greg Paciorek. From all accounts, students are having a great time enjoying the activities. Today they participated in water sports. We look forward to their return tomorrow afternoon.

Following some very busy weeks, we are looking forward to focusing on our learning in the coming weeks as teachers begin preparations for reporting writing and end of year school events.

    God Bless
