Principals Report

    Dear Parents and Carers,

As you may have heard, I have been appointed as the Principal of St Bede’s, beginning next year. I could not be happier to continue my journey in this new role at such a beautiful school.

I would like to thank everyone for the kind and supportive messages I have received, they mean so much to me! I feel incredibly blessed to be leading St Bede’s into the future and look forward to continuing to work with our wonderful students, staff, and families as we live, love, and learn together.

    Book Week

I’m not sure who had more fun on Tuesday, the students or the staff, as we celebrated Book Week. A huge thank you to Mrs Anderson for the preparation and energy she put into the day (it really is a librarian’s favourite day of the year). Sue’s passion for literature shone through in the wonderful rotational activities she created, inspiring students to engage with books in fun and meaningful ways.

It was such a joy to see so many students dressed up as their favourite book characters. These special days don’t happen without the support of parents and carers, so thank you for helping your children share in their love of reading!

    Marylou’s Pilgrimage

On Sunday, Marylou departed Australia to begin her pilgrimage, where she will walk the final part of the Camino Trail from Sarria to Santiago. The Camino is not only a physical challenge but also a spiritual journey, offering time for reflection, prayer, and renewal.

Marylou will begin walking on Friday, covering more than 100 kilometres over 10 days. We look forward to following her progress and will be sure to share her updates with you along the way.

    Sabbath Week

It is hard to believe that next week is already Week 7! At St Bede’s, Week 7 is known as Sabbath Week, a time where we encourage families to slow down and spend time together. During Sabbath Week, no homework is set and teachers also take a break from meetings, giving everyone the chance to rest, recharge, and reconnect.

The idea of Sabbath Week comes from the biblical tradition of setting aside time for rest, renewal, and connection with God and others. In Scripture, the seventh day was blessed and made holy. It was a time to stop work, reflect, give thanks, and simply be. Sabbath Week helps us to bring this tradition into our busy lives and reminds us of the importance of balance and family.

    A friendly Reminder

Teachers are always happy to meet with you to discuss your child’s learning and social and emotional wellbeing. To ensure they can give you their full attention, we kindly ask that you make an appointment rather than catching them before or after school.

Teachers often have meetings, duties, or are preparing for the school day during these times, so arranging a meeting in advance allows for a more focused conversation. Thank you for your understanding.

    School Counsellor

Marymead CatholicCare have advised that they anticipate a counsellor will be appointed to St Bede’s within the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I encourage you to make referrals using the following link: https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form

Here's to another week of living, loving and learning!

    Kind regards,
