Principals Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Tomorrow we celebrate the feast day of St. Patrick. Students are encouraged to wear a touch of green tomorrow to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Around 30 percent of Australians are believed to have Irish ancestry. St Patrick was a man who, very early in life, was made aware of his strengths and weaknesses. He was empathic, persuasive, and had a strong vision of what he wanted to achieve. Let us strive to emulate the virtues of St Patrick.
This week we welcomed Mrs. Louise Grant as acting Assistant Principal. Louise has held leadership roles across the Arch-dioceses and in schools overseas. She has already settled in well with the school community. She will be working with Mrs. Katie Tooth in Year 6 as well as Assistant Principal.
Ms. McPake continues to be unwell and we ask that you keep her in your prayers and thoughts and we look forward to her return.
Years 3 and 5 have started NAPLAN this week and have one test left on Friday. Any student who was absent on the day of their test will have an opportunity to catch up next week. A big thank you to Ms. Crispin, Mrs Welfare and the CSA’s who have prepared and supported the students this week and the weeks leading up to NAPLAN.
Yesterday the school was visited by Hon. Kristie McBain who dropped off new national flags to the school. This is a follow up to a request from the year 6 2022 for 2 new flag poles to display all three flags. We look forward to seeing her again when the Year 5 and 6 students visit Parliament House.
Yesterday classroom teachers undertook Parent Teacher phone calls with each family. We hope that making a phone call makes it easier and more accessible for parents. If you were unable to be contacted please contact your child's classroom teacher or the front office to arrange for a meeting.
We wish all our performers the best who are singing and playing at the Majors Creek Festival this Saturday. They have been practising very hard and sound fantastic.
Good luck to the Mighty West Tigers this weekend.
As always if you have any concerns please contact the school office.
Kind regards
Mark Chifley
