Dear Parents and Carers,
This is our last day of school for term 2. We have had a busy term with our students making huge leaps with their learning! We hope you all took the opportunity when you received the reports to celebrate your child’s achievements and discuss learning goals for the next semester. We thank all our parents who have attended the recent parent interviews. If you were unable to attend the interviews, we encourage you to contact the class teacher and make a time early next term.
Next term, we are implementing an innovative new Music programme from Kinder to Year 6 which is provided by Amplify Music. The programme is based on the NSW Music Curriculum. Several of our Year 5/6 students will also be participating in ThinkTank. This is an on-line program conducted at home, after school. It provides a thought-provoking and enjoyable pathway for the extension of critical thinking and communication skills for gifted and enthusiastic learners in the Southern Tablelands. We are extremely grateful to the Consensus Education Foundation and the Braidwood- Bungendore Community Bank. Generous funding from the Bank covers the tuition costs for all students.
Recently, we received the wonderful news that the Year 4 - 6 classrooms will be getting a new roof during the holidays. For many years, this section of the school has leaked whenever we have had heavy downpours of rain. We thank CECG for providing the funds to cover the cost of this project.
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the Breaking of the Ground Ceremony for the new Infants play equipment due to the wet weather. This ceremony will be held on Friday July 25 at 2:40pm. The installation of the play equipment will commence during the holidays.
This morning, we had our NAIDOC liturgy presented by our Year 5/6 students, assisted by Ms Foot, Ms Millsom and Miss Cooper. The theme for NAIDOC Week 2025, is "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy". This theme celebrates the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week and recognises the enduring strength and vitality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Next term, I will be on long service leave. I look forward to returning for Term 4. During my absence, Ms Amy Doszpot will be Acting Principal, Assistant Principal will be Ms Shaye Cooper, and REC will be shared by Mrs Bridget Bradley and Ms Hayley Millsom. I know the school will be in very capable hands under their leadership and I am sure you will support them as they undertake these significant role changes.
Have a happy and safe holiday! Enjoy the family time and the opportunity to rest, sleep-in and relax. If you happen to be in the vicinity of the school, please do a walk through and safety check.
We look forward to seeing everyone return to school fit and healthy on Tuesday, July 22.
Marylou Gorham
Principal
Bon Voyage, Mrs Gorham
On behalf of all the students, staff and parents, we wish Mrs Gorham all the very best for her well-deserved Long Service Leave. We’ll miss you and can’t wait to hear all about your adventures when you return in Term 4!

NAIDOC Week Liturgy
Today we gather for a liturgy to celebrate NAIDOC Week. The 2025 NAIDOC Week theme is:
“The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.”
This theme is all about young people; their voices, their leadership, and their dreams for the future. It celebrates how the next generation of First Nations peoples are carrying forward the strength of their cultures, the vision of their communities, and the legacy of Elders who have walked before them. We thank Year 5/6 and our First Nations students for leading our liturgy today. We also acknowledge Ms Renee Foot and Miss Hayley Millsom for all their work in preparing the liturgy.
Souper Hero Day
On Friday, our school was filled with capes, kindness, and community spirit as we celebrated Souper Hero Day in support of the Vinnie’s Winter Appeal!
Students and staff dressed as superheroes - not just the kind that fly, but real-life heroes who want to help others. We had super teachers (Super Cooper and Ms Conroy with the eyes in the back of her head), super students, super villains, local legends like Firefighter Crispin, Ms Farley’s grandma Norma (a dedicated Vinnie’s volunteer), and even a few super dads!
Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we collected 136 cans of soup and a total of 152 donations to support our local Vinnies. These items will go directly to families in need this winter.
A huge thank you to Tony Waddell (President of Braidwood Vinnies), Sarah Paciorek (Parish Secretary), and our local Vinnies store for their support!
Together, we’ve shown that small acts of kindness can make a SUPER big difference!

Illuminate
Last Thursday, some of our Year 6 leaders travelled to Canberra to attend Illuminate, a youth ministry gathering. Our students joined 350 students from 15 other CECG schools. We joined in prayer, listened to our new Executive Director, Mr David de Carvalho, developed their leadership skills through workshops and were inspired by Blessed Carlo Acutis. We thank the CECG team for inviting our students to be apart of this day and assisting them to grow as faith leaders in our school.
St Bede’s Parish Mass
Father Sijo will be on leave for the next month. The Thursday weekday Mass will be on hold until late July. Our Saturday Mass will continue at 5pm as normal with Fr Samson covering our Parish.
Yours in faith,
Shaye Cooper
Religious Education Coordinator (Acting)
Prayer for NAIDOC Week
Dear God,
Eternal Creator, source of all that is good, during this year’s NAIDOC Week, we contemplate the richness of First Nation Australians, who embody resilience and wisdom, passed down through generations. Teach us to honour these traditions, to walk alongside with respect and understanding. Grant us the courage to pursue justice and reconciliation, in the name of Jesus Christ, who calls us to unity and compassion, in harmony with the Holy Spirit, now and forever.
Amen.

Healthy Lunchbox Nutrition Snippets
- Parents are reminded to check that their child's name is on all their clothing - it is impossible to return clothes with no name.
- The school has a 2nd hand uniform pool. If you would like any uniform items please call into the office to complete an order form or alternatively email the office with your order. You will be contacted once the order has been filled. Please note that as the uniform pool relies on donations from parents, we do not have a full range of items or sizes. Any families who have uniforms that they no longer need, please consider donating these back to the school, these can be left at the office. Thank you!
- Len Mutton and Co are the schools official uniform supplier. They are located in the main street or phone 0248422446 or email lenmutton@bigpond.com
- If you are coming into the school outside of drop off and pick up times you are required to report to the office and sign in. It is important that we have a record of all visitors to the school.
- Please be mindful of what containers you send to school with your child. Please do not send ring pull cans (like the lids on small tuna cans etc.) or glass containers as these present a cutting hazard to children. Please open the can at home and place in a plastic container.
- We would ask that soft drinks are not sent to school with your children as we do try to encourage a healthy alternative like water.
- If your child is unwell, please place their absence through the Compass Parent Portal App. There is no need to then notify the office once you have placed it into the Compass app.
