Good afternoon Parents and Carers,
Marylou is attending the Northern Regions Principals meeting and I asked if I could prepare the newsletter as I have news to share with the St. Bede’s community. Unfortunately I will be leaving St. Bedes at the end of this term. My family circumstances mean that I need to be closer to home. I have been enriched by my time at St. Bedes and thank Marylou and Amanda for the trust they placed in me. I also thank the marvellous St. Bedes community that has made me feel so welcome.
Over the last week we have celebrated many important community activities. Last Friday eight of our students participated in the Northern Regions Public Speaking competition. Congratulations to all the students who competed and especially Evie who placed second in the Year 6 group. We also on Tuesday celebrated Book week with this years theme - Read, Grow, Inspire. The students and staff looked fantastic in their dress ups. It was fantastic also on Tuesday afternoon to attend the skate park and share afternoon tea with the Year 2 parents as they welcomed Mrs. Wanda Wolfe. Mrs Wolfe was disappointed that she didn't bring her skateboard and wasn't able to demonstrate her Tony Hawk like skills.
Also over the past months the parent body and Community Council have been raising funds towards the Year 5 and 6 Camp for 2024. I hope to have the final costing to parents next week. The community council has been raising funds to supply House Flags for the school and to purchase much needed tech equipment for the students. Thank you to everyone for their work and to all in the community who have supported the school. The new classrooms and Administration Block are coming along well, We hope to move in in the first week of Term 4. Class teachers will be asking parents to help them to relocate their class equipment in term 1. More details to follow.
A reminder to all parents that if your child is late to school they must be signed in at the front office by a parent. Students can not sign themselves in. Students also need to be signed out if they are leaving the school. This is to ensure the safety of all students.
We continue to pray for Fr. Mick and his recovery.
As always if you have a concern please contact your child's classroom teacher or any member of the school leadership team.

Assistant Principal, St Bede's School
Hello Parents and Carers,
This week some of our Year 3 students will be participating in their third Reconciliation preparation session. The children have been working through their booklets with the support of Cathy Ffrench and Ann Tracy. The sessions have been focusing on making choices, Jesus showing us how to live, forgiving and being forgiven and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The children will make their sacrament on Saturday 9th September at 5pm. Please continue to keep these children in your prayers as they prepare.
A prayer for Reconciliation Candidates
Loving God,
Help me to teach our children that You love us totally and unconditionally.
Help me to encourage our children to grow in love and to learn how to say sorry, knowing that You always forgive.
Give me the courage to pray with our children and to share my faith as we journey together.
I ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
On Friday 1st September we will be celebrating Father’s Day with a BBQ breakfast and prayer celebration to follow. The prayer celebration will be led by our K-2 classes. We look forward to seeing many of our dads and father figures at the celebration.

This is a fantastic effort given our small school status! Well done to all the children who competed so well as a team – we finally knocked Sts Peter and Paul off the podium after 6 straight years!
We also had 2 students who were awarded age champions, receiving a medal for the efforts. Congratulations to Dylan (Jnr Boys Champion) and Oscar (Snr Boys Champion).
